Unrequited is the third book in the Chosen series. Although it is part of a series a person could read this as a stand alone, with only a few lost moments. This review will have spoilers if you haven't read the previous books.
Unrequited love is packed with so much drama this time I don't even know where to begin. This story starts a little while after Conner died and nick and Lizzie got engaged. While she begins healing she is also still struggling with the loss of Conner, but living with Nick helps he is her strength when she is weak. Sam, one of Nick's friends he grew up with and Conner's girlfriend at the then he died comes back to town (because she fled back to Texas immediately after Conner died.) comes back to town on daddy's orders to break up Nick and Lizzie and become Nick's wife. Around the same time, Sean, one of Lizzie's Los friends comes back to visit her. While Sean's motives are those of a friend Sam's where less than honorable and Nick was the only one that couldn't see that. With Lizzie's self doubt and history of always screwing up and a little push from Sam that she wasn't good enough for Nick she packed up and left. Not telling anyone where she was going, but letting her parents know she was going and was safe. When Nick realized she was gone he fell apart, his world had no meaning and remained in a drunk stupor for the majority of the time. When Nick was at his lowest point is when Sam came to 'help him heal' but when he was calling out Lizzie's name, Sam knew that she would never win over Nick. She stopped the foreplay and told Nick to sober up she needed to talk to him and he needed to be sober before she would. This infuriated him and he began to give her the third degree, she told him very little but enough to storm off after going off on her and passing out for the night. When he woke up he vaguely remembered her saying she had something to do with Lizzie leaving. Storming out to the living room he wanted answers. Sam had decide the she would tell him everything, included what happen d the night Conner died. Although all this helped he still was no closer to finding Lizzie.

This series was a heart wrenching roller coaster ride of emotions and I loved every minute of it. I don't think I've read a more realistic book about love and loss in awhile. It had it funny moments. The relationship between Lizzie and Nick was so realistic it had everyday things that just made them all the more real people instead of just characters in the book. The love and passion between them was intense. I was happy to see certain characters getting their comeuppance and sad to see the fate of other characters but it all ended as it should. An emotional read for anyone and if you really want to connect with the book then I recommend this one.
I enjoyed the final installment of this series. Lizzie O'Malley was certain that she and Nick were soul mates forever, but when Nick's old friend shows up in town Lizzie has her doubts. Unhappy with the way in which Nick deals with her competition, Lizzie leaves with her son and Nick's unborn one. Realizing the treasure he had, Nick searches for Lizzie, but it is only when Teagen her first love reappears, that Lizzie is able to let go of the past, but can Nick?
I have fallen in love with this author's style of flawed characters and real life problems is intense and well worth the read.
I read the whole damn thing in 2 sittings !! The brilliance of Sam's character . The tortured soul following her over-bearing fathers life-long plans for her . Real people are not always what they seem to be. Despite her achievement at destruction , you see what a lifelong friendship can overcome. This complicated story comes off almost effortlessly . To go from despising a character to being a bit standoffish to then feeling unease and sympathy for them is not an easy task to pull off. WOW!! Seriously . That is just one of the characters in this 3rd installment to a fantastic series . Alisa managed to tackle such a vast journey over three books that seem to flash by . Each book blends perfectly with the next and nothing is lost in translation. I am amazed at how easy she makes it look.
It was great to get Nick’s perception on everything! The love and dedication that he has for Lizzy & Niall warms my heart! I believe that Unrequited was the book of revelations. It is where everyone comes to terms with their pasts. But trust me; you won’t be disappointed as you read how they come about these revelations. Book 3 of The Chosen Series is about forgiveness and learning to love themselves through all their mistakes. It is a long road for everyone and you will be happy that you walked with everyone.

Alisa takes you on a VERY emotional, hardcore journey throughout this series. I simply cannot walk away from this series and not be affected. It touched me in the depths of my heart. At times, it made me stop and think of similar things that have gone on in my past. Other times, I would have laugh out loud at some of the situations. There were times that it had me on the verge of tears, while others pushed me right over into an “UGLY” cry! This series will take through a wide variety of emotions – at times you will cry, while others you will laugh. And there will be the occasional time or two that you are so angry that you may feel the need to put the book down and walk away for just a bit. But one thing is constant – you will always want to come back to find out what happens next.
