Having spent a week vacationing in New Mexico, I love this author's books. He lives there, knows the area and writes about its people. This is the second one of his I've read.
Barry Lopez's writing never disappoints! He weaves a story like a master tapestry in words that are beautiful and haunting. Never pass up a chance to delve into his mind a little deeper!
Barry Holstun Lopez is one of the best "nature writers" out there. In this book he poetically captures the desert in short little scenes. Lovely.
Good stories
A fabulous and lyrical look at the magic of American deserts. Lopez is the most poetic essayist I've ever read, and through his use of mythology and imagination he evokes the feelings of desert life. This is not a compilation of facts but a beautiful and evocative rendering of the starkness and beauty of the American Southwest.
Read it years ago, wanted to re-read it.
