I loved this story, and I felt so sorry for what the two families were doing to this couple. Whether conciously, or not. But it really ticked me off when Michele, Cass's mother gave her a strict talking to, by warning her not to mess things up with Becca's life. Why should one child's happiness be more important than another? She was the glue to her family holding onto the Quilting shop after the previos shop had burned down; not that they appreciated her for giving up her own wants and needs, to do so.And poor Matt!!! His family basically did the same thing to him, too. I won't go into details, and I'm sure both parents loved them, but IMO- they had a really crappy way of showing it. Yes, there was a lot of bad things that happened to both families in the last year, or so. But that doesn't mean they should heap all of their responsibilities of the jobs they didn't want to deal with themselves, off on these two kids shoulders.
I loved the way the author didn't shy away from addressing the tough questions, or the situations that arose in both families. This was a very well written story that will pull at your heart-strings.

Two of Hearts St Caroline Series Book 2 eBook Julia Gabriel Reviews
When I first started this book I thought I had already read it I knew the characters and story. Then I remember I read the first book in the series. This is Matt and Cassidy story like the first story this takes place in St. Caroline. Matt is a firefighter just like everyone in his family because of a lost and an accident he has taken on more responsibility. Cassidy does not see this because she sees him as a playboy. Like the first story, the two families have down to earth problems. I do not want to give away anything but both Matt and Cassidy finds a way to change things in their life and come together. Yes, kids a hea ending. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it when I first started this book I thought I had already read it I knew the characters and story. This romance focuses on Cassidy and Matt while also encompassing the lives of just about everyone in their picturesque small town. Cassidy's sister, Becca, is engaged to Matt's brother, Jack, from the previous book in this series. Their ultra-slow developing romance has far-reaching ramifications for both their families, and I loved the way the author didn't shy away from addressing the tough questions. Both families have endured recent tragedies as well as current life-altering events, and reading about how all that works together elevates this book to so much more than a simple love story.
There are no easy answers, but that makes the story all that much richer. These two do find their HEA, but we're still left with open-ended questions related to other family members. This is an easy series to get addicted to, with its realistic story threads and amazingly relatable characters. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
The second book in this series, it is of benefit to have read Hearts on Fire as this story is a follow-on. Matt Wolfe fell into firefighting because that is what his family did. Despite having come from a loving family, no one has any real expectations for Matt other than that he is player and doesn't take life seriously. However, Matt's feelings and sensibilities run deep and he is tired of having to dumb down to the lowest level of expectations. Cassidy, on the other hand, has a good business brain and has always been the “low maintenance” family member. In not wanting to create waves, her needs are overlooked and she earns her mother's disapproval at the budding friendship between herself and Matt, just in case she rocks the family boat. When Matt suggests the friends with benefits contract, it seems like a win-win situation. That is until feelings start to get in the way. The story is fairly slow moving and the attraction between Matt and Cassidy builds up to a point where they can no longer ignore what is happening between them. I love both Matt and Cassidy's characters. Even though Matt has the reputation of a rogue to uphold, he is a caring and sensitive person and he helps Cassidy to deal with some of her deep issues. His belief in her spurs her on and allows her to take opportunities when they come. Cassidy comes to realise that the rumours about Matt aren't all true and that there is caring person under the bravado. Although there are some steamy scenes, they are dealt with sensitively. Family expectations are also brought to the fore and make one realise that when parents place their own expectations on their children, they can do more harm than good. The story is emotional and somewhat sad but has a happy conclusion. Despite the fact that this book is part of a series and characters from the previous book appear in this one too, it is nevertheless a standalone. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.
She’s the good daughter, dependable and does the books for the family quilting business. He’s the second son of a firefighter and a fireman too. But he’s a player and warned to stay away from her. But there is something there calling to him
